Room
Yesterday I finished a book called "Room" by Emma Donoghue . I could not put it down for three days everything in it was a new fresh rendition on literature that I had never seen before. "Room" is a book like no other, it is written in the point of view of a 5 year old boy who has spent his whole life in a single solitary 11x11 room. The wording of the book shields the reader of some of the truths that are said differently because Jack, the little boy, doesn't actually know what's happening or happened. His mom and him live together in the Room where he was born. His mother has been in the room for 7 years after being taken by a man, "Old Nick". A big portion of the book is learning about their situation and then Ma send Jack for the "Great Escape" I rated this book 5 stars. I rated it that high because I absolutely fell in love with the characters and I could feel their pain and visualize what was happening at all times. The way it is written takes real time, effort and skill to go and write like a 5 year old. I would recommend this book to mature young adults and adults alike. If you are looking for a new type of genre this is a perfect book because it incorporates many different genres. I normally don't pick a book that has kidnappings but this really caught my attention when I heard a lot of great reviews. I can't wait to read more by her!

The book trailer was very creative since it is from the perspective of a five-year old. I found your blog to be very insightful and descriptive. I would like to read this book.
ReplyDeleteThe imagination that must have been needed to write a book like this is incredible. The whole concept of the story and the perspective its being told in is so refreshing and different. This is definitely a book I would want to read in the future. Thanks for the post:)
